Perhaps GenAI (Generative AI) is the tech word of the year and has spread like a wild fire within the tech community, but It’s soon to be predecessor ML (Machine Learning) is still the ‘king’ when it comes to predicting future from the past patterns. How about a ML model that can predict the likelihood of a router or a switch crashing based on learnings from past crashes of thousands of devices? This insight can be extremely powerful in the hands of the network operations team who can proactively remediate issues and avoid business disruption.

Furthermore, if this insight can be exposed as API for Cisco partners to embed them into their own operational dashboard is even more powerful. Crash Risk API is one of the 27 APIs that Cisco has exposed to their partner ecosystem through PX Cloud platform, that provides rich telemetry and insights that can be embedded into downstream applications.

The telemetry data is collected from the customer’s live network infrastructure, combined with Cisco’s intellectual property and algorithms results in different level of insights, from descriptive to prescriptive (see fig. below). The right hand side of the figure shows different APIs that are exposed through the PX Cloud platform that matches with the type of analytics that is performed on the customer data.

Most importantly, these are cross-architecture insights that currently supports Campus Network, DC Compute, DC Network, Security and Meraki. IoT, SDWAN and other Cisco architecture will be supported in the future.

Experiential Economy

Shifting gears a bit, Cisco made foray into experience economy few years back with the launch of CX cloud platform and Success Tracks and is seeing huge momentum with its customers. Cisco wants to replicate this success with their partners and PX cloud is the very foundation for it. By leveraging the telemetry and insights data through the APIs, partners can also build similar digital experience for their customers and become a data driven company. This will be a huge differentiator for partners who dare to jump into this space.
