Vedic sages made an inner journey and discovered the beauty and the order of the cosmos. Through this intuition, they theorized the outer cosmos that modern science is discovering in our times through scientific instruments. That’s why we see many of the scientific discoveries like big bang theory, quantum, multiverses ,etc. are already written in vedas by sages.
Ordinary humans can make this inner journey and discovery as well. Sage Patanjali has guided humans through seven stages of practice leading to samadhi. Yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharna, dhyana and samadhi are the 7 stages.
The 3rd stage pratyahara practice involves closing the outer window of 5 sense organs (sound, touch, sight, taste and smell) and opening the inner window to seek guidance from the mind. Then the mind itself aligns with intellect and seeks its guidance. The ego by itself weakens because the sensory apparatus is closed and it has nothing to identify with. Finally the intellect remains and discovers the beauty and order of the cosmos. In the last stage of samadhi, the inside and outside dissolve, both are the same. There remains pure awareness.
This is shivahood, this is bhraman.
