Stopping Mental Commentary

Suffering is when I become ‘it’ or in other words, the mind is attending to the mental commentary or chatter. But when I remain witness to ‘it’ persistently, suffering ends. When ‘it’ is anger 😠 or when ‘it’ is loneliness or when ‘it’ is regret😞, recognize that these emotional states are created by mental commentaries.

Mental commentaries are born out of signals from the 5 sense faculties of sound, touch, sight, taste and smell and corresponding organs of 👂 , skin, 👀 , 👅 and 👃 .

By remaining witness to this chatter💬, suffering ends. Let’s say the eyes perceive an object that is either external or projected on the mind screen, rather then attending to this object and getting dragged along into associated objects in memory, remain witness.

Remaining witness👁️‍🗨️ to mental chatter is like watching a movie 🍿 or listening to a pod cast🎧but the playback is happening on the mental screen. If witnessing is hard initially, turn your attention to incoming and outgoing breath. Else, repeat a mantra and pay attention to it. Else project📽️ an object on a mental screen and attend to it, object can be any sacred symbol.

This is how you stop the mental chatter by not attending to it and tame your emotions which takes up unnecessary vital energy⚡️ from one’s being.
